Meena Media Awards 2021: 1st prize 50 thousand BDT!

UNICEF presents the Meena Media Awards in recognition of the excellence of journalism in promoting children's rights in the media. The Meena Media Awards started in 2005 and entered its 16th year in 2021. The award is given for working to win the support of children from policy makers and the general public by publishing news reports on the following topics:


Meena Media Awards (18 years and above)

For a report in journalism that helps advance children's rights:

1. Text (print / online)

2. Photography (print / online)

3. Video (TV / Online)


Children's Meena Media Awards (Under 18)

For a report in journalism that helps advance the issue of child rights:

4. Text (print / online)

5. Photography (print / online)

6. Video (TV / Online)


Special Meena Awards (18 years and above)

For a text-based report in journalism that helps advance the issue of child rights:

7. Effects of Covid-19 on children

8. Government investment for children

9. Rohingya refugee children

10. Stop child marriage

11. Climate change and children


Prizes for Category 1-6:

First prize: BDT. 50,000;

Second Prize: BDT. 25,000;

Third Prize: BDT. 15,000.

Prize for 8-11 category: Winner BDT. 50,000.


Eligibility: 

1. This award is given for the work of journalism published in the established mainstream media of Bangladesh and prepared by people living in Bangladesh.

2. Submissions must be published / disseminated between September 1, 2020 and August 31, 2021 .

3. The report submitted by the applicant for the category below 18 years of age must be below 18 years of age on the day it was published / broadcast.

4. An applicant can  only submit a published or disseminated report or photo in one category .

5.Incomplete application may be disqualified / rejected.

6. Direct family members of those who will serve as judges and those employed by UNICEF will not be considered eligible to participate in this competition.

7. UNICEF has the right to make all kinds of decisions at all levels of awarding.

Application Process:

1. Visit the official link.

2. In case of application in text (print / online), you need to upload a scanned copy of the report exactly as it was published and the name of the media in which it was published. If there is an online link to it, you have to give it too.

3. In case of application to Video (TV / Online), you have to upload the video in MPEG4 / MP4 (1080 Resolution) format in Google Drive, One Drive, Dropbox, YouTube or any other online medium and share the link. However, this link must be effective until October 31, 2021. To share a link to Google Drive or OneDrive, you must access the "anyone with the link" folder in Drive and select the "Editor" option instead of "viewer" or "commenter" so that we can easily download.

4. To apply for photography, you need to upload a scanned copy of the image as it was published and the name of the media in which it was published. You also need to upload the original image in JPG format. The original image must be at least 2,000x3,000 pixels and over 3MB.
