Introduction to Astronomy and Astrophysics Research

The word "Astrophysics" almost always presents astonishingly colourful images or stories of Stars, Nebulae, Galaxies, Black Holes to us. But what is astrophysics like to the researchers? How do they know about those stars far far away?

Society for Popularization of Science (SPSB) and Maqsudul Alam Science Laboratory (MASLab) is co-hosting this event where you would be introduced and trained to do real Astrophysical Research. The workshop is targeted towards those interested in Astronomy- especially those who thought of a career in Astronomy.

3. Photometry: measuring the brightness of objects

4. CCD Data Reduction and Aperture Photometry using AstroImageJ

5. Accessing database using TOPCAT (depending on class response and time)

All successful attendees would be given completion certificates from MASLab and SPSB. Some prizes would be given to those with active participation and good performance. The attendees would also be given the chance to participate in research at MASLab after the workshop.
